Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath, also known as Dwarakish, was a veteran Kannada cinema actor, producer, and director who passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack. According to family members, he was 81.

Along with producing and directing around 50 films, he appeared in about 100 films as an actor. Dwarakish, who was born on August 19, 1942, in Hunsur, Mysuru district, became well-known throughout the State for his comedic parts.

With the song “Aadu Aata Aadu,” he is also credited with introducing renowned Hindi playback vocalist Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry.

Dwarakish, a mechanical engineering diploma holder, made his screen debut in 1966 as a co-producer of “Mamatheya Bandhana” under the Thunga Pictures banner.

His film “Mayor Muthanna,” which starred Bharathi and Dr. Rajkumar, two of Kannada cinema’s matinee idols, brought him enormous fame as a producer.
