The formidable Puneri Paltan defeated the youthful and tenacious Haryana Steelers to win the Pro Kabaddi League trophy for the first time and write their name into history. Puneri Paltan led them to the championship with a 28-25 victory over the Steelers at the GMC Balayogi Sports Complex in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on March 1 in an entertaining finale that might have gone either way.

Puneri Paltan’s defense handed them an early advantage as they captured raiders Shivam Patare and Vinay of the Haryana Steelers. But as the Steelers were on the scoreboard in the end, Mohit Goyat was tackled. Their confidence was bolstered by Rahul Sethpal’s valiant defence, which kept the match engaging.

Puneri Paltan’s attacks were all met by a counterattack from the Haryana Steelers in the first half of the championship game of the PKL 10. But Pankaj Mohite’s magical moment allowed him to finish with a four-point Super Raid, giving the Paltan contingent a commanding lead. Before the last 20 minutes of Season 10, the score was 10-13 in favor of the Paltans, thanks to Ashish’s successful raid in the closing seconds for the Steelers.

Puneri Paltan had a significant advantage early in the second half thanks to Mohit Goyat’s raiding, which resulted in the only all-out of the championship game. The youthful Haryana Steelers were unfazed by this, as their raiders joined the fray and amassed as many extra points as they could to get them in proximity to Puneri Paltan.

Pankaj Mohite was the game-changer for Puneri Paltan in the Grand Finale, as the resilience of the Haryana Steelers was met with brilliance to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. Siddharth Desai got the better of Puneri Paltan skipper Aslam Inamdar and star all-rounder Mohammadreza Chiyaneh late on to give his team hope, but the Paltan lived up to their form to seal their maiden PKL trophy and prove their credentials of being the best team in Season 10.

Pro Kabaddi League 10 Final:

Puneri Paltan were victorious in their maiden Pro Kabaddi League title match, defeating the Haryana Steelers in a thrilling low-scoring battle despite a determined Haryana team. With this victory, the Paltans exacted revenge for their heartbreaking loss to the Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL Season 9 last year. In the process, Puneri Paltan finished as the most dominant team at the end of the league, topping the table with 96 points from 22 games (17 wins, 2 defeats, and 3 ties).

The Paltans started the final slowly, and both teams appeared to be in tact. However, a moment of inattention on the part of the Haryana team allowed Pankaj Mohite to create a super-raid, which ultimately resulted in Puneri scoring four points thanks to an advanced tackle by Mohit Nandal and the pursuit of the remaining defenders.

Puneri won the game, 28-25, after taking a seven-point lead over the Steelers in the opening three to four minutes of the second half. The moment proved to be the difference.

As the league’s predetermined prize for the victorious team, the Paltans were given a massive INR 3 crore as the winners. The Haryana Steelers won INR 1.8 crore at the end. In addition to the teams’ prize money, various individual prizes were presented to the worthy winners who demonstrated their tenacity, talent, and intelligence quotient in their respective roles throughout the three-month-long, illusive Indian tournament.
